Province says tourism is a 'key area' for economic growth

The New Brunswick government says it will continue to invest in promoting tourism as a way to help grow the province's economy.

Premier Brian Gallant says community leaders across the province have made it clear that tourism is a key area for economic growth.

The province says it will boost tourism in the coming months by focusing on the tourism potential for Canada's 150th anniversary, increasing the promotion of staycations and extended vacations for visitors, and investing in infrastructure and improving tourism signage.

New Brunswick is also expected to launch a new comprehensive tourism strategy later in 2017.
