Public Meeting for residents of Sunshine Gardens/Rookwood Avenue/Wagoners Lane
The City of Fredericton is seeking input from residents of the Sunshine Gardens/Rookwood Avenue/Wagoners Lane area to a public open house next week.
The meeting on Thursday March 21st from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Stepping Stone Centre (15 Saunders Street) will explore an active transportation feasibility study planned for the area.
In a press release, the city says the Rookwood Avenue: Trans-Canada Trail Connection will explore the feasibility of filling several gaps within the active transportation trail network in the core of Fredericton.
The meeting will also discuss the impacts of a roundabout at Waggoners Lane/Rookwood Avenue to improve traffic, pedestrian and transit safety and efficiency.
The city says Rookwood Avenue: Trans-Canada Trail Connection is one of three feasibility studies approved for funding from a successful application made by the city to the 2018 Municipalities for Climate Innovation Fund from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) for the feasibility and preliminary design of transportation projects that aim to reduce GHG emissions.
According to the press release, City Engineering Services staff will also be on hand to answer questions and receive public feedback, and public input from the meeting will form the basis of further discussion around the future plan and its development.
