RCMP identify suspected driver in hit and run

Mounties say they've identified the man they believe was involved in a hit and run in western New Brunswick nearly two months ago.

Police say the incident happened in the eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway near Meductic around 4:20 p.m. on Feb. 4.

They say a dark blue, extended cab pickup truck was entering the highway via the on-ramp and struck a transport truck travelling the same direction.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged, and police say the driver of the pickup fled the scene continuing eastbound.

About 40 minutes later, police say the suspect is believed to have stopped at the Irving Big Stop in Lincoln, where they obtained video footage of him and the vehicle.

Police later released a surveillance photo of the suspect.

Mounties said Friday that the individual has been identified, and that their investigation is ongoing.
