RCMP investigating two fatal crashes in New Brunswick

RCMP are investigating two fatal crashes that happened in New Brunswick on Sunday. 

Mounties say a fatal single-vehicle collision occurred around 6 a.m. on French Lake Road, near the intersection of New Road in Geary. 

Police say a 30-year-old Geary man died at the scene as result of his injuries, while three other people travelling in the vehicle were taken to hospital. 

On Sunday afternoon, one person was killed and two others injured following a three-vehicle crash that happened along Route 11 in Village Blanchard, just outside of Caraquet. 

RCMP Cpl. Mario Maillet tells our newsroom the lone driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene, while two people from the other vehicle were transported to hospital with unknown injuries. 

Route 11 was closed for several hours and reopened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
