RCMP investigating 'significant theft' of copper from Lower Woodstock motel

RCMP say they're investigating a "significant theft" of copper from the Cozy Cabins motel in Lower Woodstock.

The Woodstock RCMP received a report of approximately 500 lbs of copper found on the bank of the Saint John River on Friday evening.

Police say it was determined the copper had been stolen from the nearby motel, which caused significant damage to its electrical and water systems.

Mounties say the suspect or suspects would have spent several hours at the motel in order to remover the copper, with the incident occurring sometime last week between Tuesday and Friday.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
