RCMP say 18-year-old man arrested, charged in connection with bear spray incident at Moncton fair

RCMP say an 18-year-old Dieppe man has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon in connection with a bear spray incident at a Moncton fair. 

Codiac RCMP received a call that several people had been sprayed with bear spray by unknown suspects at the fair being held on Mountain Road around 10:30 p.m. on Friday. 

Police, the Moncton Fire Department, and EMS attended the scene. 

Mounties say victims were treated and released or transported to Moncton City Hospital and Georges Dumont Hospital for treatment and decontamination. 

Police say Brendan Bastarache remains in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing in Moncton on Tuesday.

The investigation is continuing.
