RCMP say Caraquet man arrested following two-vehicle crash near Rexton

RCMP say a 59-year-old Caraquet man has been arrested and two people have been sent to hospital following a two-vehicle crash near Rexton.

The Southeast District RCMP Richibucto Detachment responded to Highway 11 to a report of a pickup truck driving erratically late yesterday afternoon.

Police say while members attempted to pull the pickup truck over, it rear-ended a car, sending it into a nearby ditch.

They say both the driver of the car and passenger were taken to hospital with serious injuries, which do not appear to be life-threatening.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Mounties say the man's driver's license has been suspended for a minimum of 90 days and his truck has been impounded for 30 days.

He has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on May 15th.

The investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
