RCMP say man and woman from Quebec arrested following drug seizure in Saint-Quentin

RCMP say a man and woman from Quebec have been arrested following a drug seizure in Saint-Quentin.

The Northeast District RCMP responded to a report of a possible stranded driver on Highway 180 on Monday morning.

Mounties say drugs were noticed by the responding officer, which resulted in a search of the vehicle and the seizure of a large amount of Canadian currency and quantities of what is believed to be methamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis resin, and prescription drugs.

The driver, a 24-year-old Saint-Marc-sur-Richelieu woman, was arrested and has since been released pending a court appearance, while the passenger, a 31-year-old Beloeil man, was also arrested.

Police say Philippe Proulx has been charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

He was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
