Red Cross aids tenants after Fredericton apartment fire

The Canadian Red Cross says volunteers are assisting the tenants of an apartment that suffered a fire last night.

The agency says the fire, which was contained to the kitchen of one apartment in a 16-unit building on the north side of Fredericton, has forced out a woman, her teenaged son and two other teenaged boys who were visiting.

The fire was reported around 3:00 a.m. in a four story structure at 574 Forest Hill Road.

The Red Cross says volunteers have helped the displaced tenants with food purchases and they have been placed in a hotel pending clean-up and repairs.
