Rescued kitten on the mend

A  cat rescue agency says close to a dozen people have expressed interest in adopting a kitten that was rescued from a frozen snowbank by a pair of sharp-eyed garbage collectors.

Leland Nason was collecting trash in Minto on Tuesday when he and his truck driver passed what they thought was a dead cat, stuck to the snowbank.

When Nason saw the kitten's head move, he dug it out of the snow and put it in his jacket to warm it up.

Sue Knight of CARMA Cat Rescue in Fredericton says the kitten -- which has been nicknamed Ajax -- had injuries to its paws but is now on painkillers and appears to be recovering well.
