Saint John police investigate two separate armed robberies

The Saint John Police Force is investigating two separate armed robberies that occurred in the city since Thursday.

Police responded to the Airport General Store on Loch Lomond Road around 5:40 p.m. on Thursday.

Employees told officers that two young males had entered the store, one of them stealing some items after claiming he had a gun.

Police say two male Young Offenders were later placed under arrest.

Police also responded to the Garden Street Irving on City Road early Friday morning.

They say a man in his thirties entered the store and told employees, who handed over some cash, that he had a pistol and a knife before he fled the scene.

The suspect was later placed under arrest following a short foot chase.
