Saint John police say man arrested following armed robbery at convenience store

A 26-year-old man has been arrested following an armed robbery at a Saint John convenience store on Wednesday. 

The Saint John Police Force says members responded to the robbery on Princess Street just after 7 a.m. 

Police say a caller reported the man had entered the store with a handgun and demanded money. 

The suspect was found leaving the scene by patrol officers and he was captured after a short foot chase. 

Witnesses are being interviewed, while the Forensic Identification Section is processing the scene. 

The man is set to appear in court today to answer to the charge of armed robbery.
