Saint John police say woman facing impaired driving charges following accident on Charlotte Street

The Saint John Police Force says a 61-year-old woman is facing charges of impaired driving following an accident on Charlotte Street.

Police responded to a call regarding the motor vehicle accident around 12 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say the woman was driving the vehicle at fault and that she had been arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug the previous day.

They say officers noticed signs of impairment and requested a drug recognition expert who determined the woman was again operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

She was arrested, held for court, and her vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

She's scheduled to appear before a provincial court judge later today to answer to the charges.
