Schools and businesses wearing pink today

There will be a sea of pink at many schools and businesses across the country and around the globe today, celebrating Pink Shirt Day.

The movement began in 2007 when two Nova Scotia students, David Shepherd and Travis Price, took a stand against a bully after a new student was harassed and threatened for wearing a pink shirt.

The boys decided to buy 50 pink tank tops for their fellow students. They sent out message to schoolmates that night, and the next morning they handed them out so everywhere could show their support for the bullied boy and the bully never bothered the student again.

Since that time, the movement to stand up to bullies has grown every year with kids, and adults taking a stand to bullying and standing for kindness every day.
