Several fees in Fredericton to rise on New Year's Day

It's going to cost you more for some city services in Fredericton as of New Year's Day.

The cost of transit rider cards will increase to $25 from $22.50, while the hourly rate for transit charges will go up by $20 to $130.

Renting Odell Lodge and community rooms at the Grant-Harvey Centre and Willie O'Ree Place will now cost $22.50 an hour – an increase of $2.50.

City council also voted to increase several field rental fees, including:

  • Class AA and Class A adult field rentals will jump to $25 from $20 per two-hour rental;
  • Class B adult field rentals will climb to $20 from $15 per two-hour rental;
  • the Class A youth field rental fee will be set at $10.00 per two-hour rental; and
  • the Class B youth field rental fee will be set at $8.00 per two-hour rental.

Council approved the fee increases as part of its 2017 budget approval process.
