Small fire at Victoria Health Centre

A small fire at the Victoria Health Centre was quickly contained by the Fredericton Fire Department on Friday.

City spokesperson Heidi Cyr says in a release that firefighters responded to the scene on Brunswick Street just after 12 p.m.

She says a roofing crew was working with torches, and material in the wall accidentally ignited, causing a large amount of smoke to spread to the basement and first two floors.

Firefighters cleared the smoke after the complex was evacuated, and no one was injured.
