Sticker shock at the pumps expected in NB
Be patient today if you need to fill up!
The effects of Hurricane Harvey will be felt this week and gas retailers in New Brunswick are preparing for long lineups as drivers are expected to face sticker shock at the pumps.
The experts say when the EUB sets the new price tonight, it'll be a jump of 13 cents per litre or more, which would be the largest single-day jump in the province in nine years.
The hike is a delayed reaction to Hurricane Harvey, which caused turmoil in petroleum markets with rising prices across much of eastern North America last week.
New Brunswick's gas price regulation system had held off the market effects from reaching consumers.
Currently, motorists will pay anywhere from $1.07.6 to $1.09.8 cents per litre.
