Three N.B. schools selected to work on project for Canadian Space Agency
Three post-secondary schools in New Brunswick will work together on a project for the Canadian Space Agency.
A joint news release from the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Université de Moncton, and New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) says the schools are partnering to create and send the province's first cube satellite into space, as part of the Canadian CubeSat Project.
The goal is to launch the cube satellite or cubesat from the International Space Station in 2021.
The students will play a lead role in the development of its physical design and in the programming of the computers that will be required to successfully launch and operate the satellite.
The CubeSat NB project is one of 15 teams participating, and will aim to provide new insights into the behaviour of the Earth's ionosphere, part of the upper atmosphere.
