Tracadie man facing 16 months in jail on child porn charges

The RCMP say a 26-year-old man from Tracadie has been sentenced to 16 months in jail for possession of child pornography and making available child pornography.

Police say Frederick Basque was arrested and charged in connection with an investigation by the New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit that resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a home in Tracadie in November 2016.

RCMP say Basque appeared in court on Tuesday for sentencing.

In addition to the jail sentence, he will be added to the National Sex Offender Registry, be required to submit a sample of his DNA and is under strict conditions not to be around children.
