Trial dates set for men accused in looting during floods
Two of three men charged in connection with looting during the flooding in Maugerville have denied the allegations and will stand trial this summer.
25-year-old Chance Arthur Leslie of no fixed address pleaded not guilty in Burton Provincial Court yesterday to charges of breaking into the flooded home of Markus Harvey, possession of a stolen canoe and beaching a probation order.
The Daily Gleaner reports that his trial will start next month.
29-year-old Brandon Drew Hatchard of Perth-Andover is also charged with break-and-enter and possession of the canoe.
His defence entered a not guilty plea in court yesterday.
The 3rd man, 29-year-old Travis Llyod Hunt of Maugerville is also facing charges and expected in court next week.
Leslie and Hunt have been remanded and Hatchard was released on conditions following a bail hearing las month.
