Twenty-five doctors to be added to New Brunswick's health-care system

Twenty-five new doctors will soon be added to New Brunswick's health-care system.

Government says the additional physicians could mean 20,000 more people living in New Brunswick will have access to a family doctor and it will nearly eliminate the current wait list for this part of the primary care system.

The province says the 25 new doctors represent an annual investment of around $15 million.

The distribution of physicians will be based on current vacancies, priorities identified by the regional health authorities, and data from Patient Connect NB, which is a patient registry for people who are without a primary health-care provider.
