Two dead after raft overturns in Gray Rapids
Two people from White Rapids are dead after a raft overturned in the Miramichi River in Gray Rapids.
The Northeast District RCMP responded shortly after 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday to a report of eight people in a raft that overturned.
Police say six made it to shore, while a 29-year-old woman was pulled from the water and given CPR.
She was transported to hospital where she was pronounced dead, and RCMP say the cause of death was confirmed to be drowning.
The body of a 55-year-old man was located in the water a short time later, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine his cause of death.
