Two new thoracic surgeons hired in Horizon Health Network

The Horizon Health Network has announced the addition of two new thoracic surgeons.

Dr. Serge Melanson, Chief of Staff at the Moncton Hospital, says the recruitment will help patients have more access to services, calling it a step in the right direction.

Horizon says the new hires, along with the return of two thoracic surgeons previously on leave, means their thoracic surgical services are now fully staffed.

Thoracic surgeons are trained in the surgical treatment of the esophagus and lungs, as well as chest and diaphragm muscles.

They treat lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and other diseases of the chest.
