Two people treated in hospital following house fire north of Sussex

Two people required treatment in hospital for burns and smoke inhalation after a fire Thursday evening extensively damaged a house in the rural community of Hunters Home, New Brunswick, north of Sussex.

Disaster volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross met at the hospital Friday to arrange emergency purchases like clothing and other basics for the couple in their 50s.

The woman was expected to be released by Friday, but her partner will remain in hospital for an unspecified period.

The fire started in the kitchen of their bungalow at 7385 Highway 112.
