The UNB Varsity Reds/Papa John’s Pizza female Athlete of the Week is Jennifer Moore, from the women’s swimming team.

Moore swam personal bests in winning a pair of bronze medals at the 2018 Subway Atlantic University Sports Swimming Championships, in Saint John.

She placed third in the women’s 100-metre and 200-metre freestyle events, the only Varsity Reds woman to win medals at the conference championship.

“Jenn had such an amazing weekend, with all lifetime best swims,” says Varsity Reds head coach Robin Ferdinand. “She’s been getting faster, but really put things together and had her best races when it counted. She is a swimmer to watch in the future.”


Noah Horwood
Men’s Swimming

The UNB Varsity Reds/Papa John’s Pizza male Athlete of the Week is Noah Horwood, from the men’s swimming team.

Horwood led the Varsity Reds swimming team at the 2018 Subway Atlantic University Sport Championships, in Saint John, collecting two silver medals.

He took second place in both the men’s 100-metre and 50-metre breaststroke finals. In the 50-metre final, Horwood finished just four-tenths of a second behind the winner.

“Noah has been having a great season, establishing himself as one of the top breaststrokers in the conference,” says Varsity Reds head coach Robin Ferdinand. “He’s a great racer and battled for his medals in a strong breaststroke field, a great way to cap a great season.”
