UNB Reds Athletes of the Week
2nd Year Bachelor of Arts
The UNB Reds/Papa John’s Pizza female Athlete of the Week is Mackenzie Sinclair, from the women’s soccer team.
Sinclair displayed a flair for the dramatic in scoring two late goals, helping the Reds score a win and a draw in two weekend matches.
On Saturday, Sinclair scored both Reds goals, one in the 83rd minute and one late in extra time, to lift UNB to a 2-1 home field win over Saint Mary’s.
On Sunday, she was aggressive in creating offensive chances during UNB’s 0-0 draw at UPEI.
“Mackenzie scored a couple of key goals for us this weekend in our win over Saint Mary’s, a must win game for us,” said Reds head coach Jon Crossland. “She was in the right spot at the right time to score those goals. It’s taken a while, but hopefully those first goals will take the pressure off and help carry her through the remainder of the season.”
Sinclair and her teammates return to action on October 12th, when they visit Acadia.
