UNB students to honour victims of Montreal Massacre
The UNB Women in Engineering Society is hosting a memorial event on Tuesday to honour the victims of the Montreal Massacre.
It will be 28 years ago Wednesday that 14 young women were gunned down at the École Polytechnique in Montreal.
The federal government later declared Dec. 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
Raiyan Mostofa of the UNB Women in Engineering Society says today is also a chance to support and encourage women in fields like science, technology, engineering and math.
Tuesday's ceremony, which is open to the public, will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Dineen Auditorium at Head Hall.
