**Updated** High water levels lead to Route 105 closure north of Perth-Andover

High water levels along the St. John River have led to at least one road closure as of Friday afternoon.

The province says Route 105 is closed in Medford – between Perth-Andover and Drummond – as high water levels along the river have caused bank erosion.

Meanwhile, water levels along the St. John River are forecast to approach or exceed flood stage in the coming days thanks to recent rainfall.

The New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization said Thursday that water levels are expected to approach flood stage at Fredericton, Maugerville and Sheffield-Lakeville Corner over the next two days, and exceed flood stage at Jemseg.

EMO says above normal snow levels in the upper part of the St. John River basin may also contribute to higher water levels.

They're asking residents living near waterways to remain vigilant, and for drivers to keep an eye out for wildlife who are seeking higher ground due to the rising water levels.
