**Updated** Man arrested after threat prompts 'hold and secure' at Perth-Andover school
One person has been arrested after a threatening message led to a 'hold and secure' at a Perth-Andover school.
Jason Humphrey, spokesperson for the Anglophone West School District, said a threatening message was brought to the attention of the principal at Southern Victoria High School on Monday morning.
"As the safety and security of students, teachers and staff is of utmost importance, the school immediately activated its comprehensive school safety plan," Humphrey told our newsroom.
Humphrey said the school was placed in a state of 'hold and secure' – meaning no one was allowed in or out of the building – and the RCMP were called.
He said officers later arrested a man off school property in connection with the investigation, and the hold and secure was lifted.
The RCMP later confirmed that a 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident in a neighbouring community.
Staff Sgt. Ross Gorman said in a news release that the investigation is ongoing.
