**Updated** Police Investigating Fatal Fire This Morning

Fredericton Police say they are currently on scene at a Southside residence, investigating an early morning fire and a sudden death.

Firefighters responded to the call of a structure fire around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday and the fire was knocked down quickly and police were called following the discovery of a deceased person.

Police say they are currently working with the Fire Department and Coroner's Office to determine the cause of the fire and the cause of death and will remain on scene "for the foreseeable future."

he Fredericton Fire Department and Fredericton Police responded to a fire on Canterbury Drive this morning.

The Daily Gleaner reports a neighbour heard a series of explosions shortly after 5:00 a.m.

Neighbour David Kilfoil told the paper, "the fire department knocked it down pretty quick."

Police and fire are not releasing many details, but in a Tweet, police say Canterbury Drive is closed between Essex Street and Surrey Crescent.
