RCMP say three men have been charged following an attempted theft from a flooded home in Maugerville.

The men were in a canoe and arrested Sunday morning, with assistance from the Oromocto Fire Department and the NB Department of Justice and Public Safety.

RCMP say the owner of the home was inside at the time, no one was hurt, and nothing was taken.

29-year-old Brandon Hatchard from Perth-Andover, 29-year-old Travis Hunt from Maugerville, and 25-year-old Chance Leslie from Middle Hainesville have each been charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property, while Leslie also faces a charge of breach of probation.

They appeared in Burton Provincial Court on Monday and were remanded into custody.

RCMP are thanking the members of the public who helped provide information on the suspects' location.
