Winter operations returning to Fundy National Park, federal money announced for upgrades

The 2018 winter season at Fundy National Park has been launched with $1.7 million in new infrastructure funding from the federal government.

Fundy Royal MP Alaina Lockhart made the announcement on Thursday, saying the return of winter operations will allow visitors to appreciate the park in new ways and connect to nature throughout the winter.

She says it's also an important step towards developing a more sustainable tourism industry in the region.

The project involves water distribution system enhancements, including a new water treatment system and additional fire hydrants at the Chignecto Campground.

Parks Canada will be offering a variety of winter experiences at Fundy National Park beginning January 19th, including winter accommodations.
