Woman injured in downtown Fredericton assault

Police say a woman suffered minor injuries after being assaulted in downtown Fredericton.

Heidi Cyr, spokesperson for the Fredericton Police Force, said officers were called to a fight in progress in the Tannery on King Street shortly after 2 a.m. Friday.

"One female was assaulted, following a dispute among a group of people," said Cyr. "She was sent to hospital to be treated for minor injuries and released."

Cyr said suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

"The FPF considers this an isolated incident and there is no risk for the public," she said.

Police said no further details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.
