Woman killed in snowmobile crash near Mactaquac Provincial Park
Police say a 52-year-old woman from Lower Kingsclear has died after a snowmobile crash near New Brunswick's Mactaquac Provincial Park.
RCMP Sgt. Chantal Farrah said the crash happened on a groomed trail near Route 105 shortly after 10 p.m. Friday.
"The preliminary investigation indicates that two people were travelling on the same snowmobile, in a wooded area, when it lost control in a turn and both occupants were thrown off the machine," Farrah said in a news release.
Farrah said the passenger on the snowmobile died from her injuries in hospital, while the driver was not seriously hurt.
She said the investigation into the crash is continuing.
It was the second fatal snowmobile crash in New Brunswick in as many days.
Police in northern New Brunswick said a 49-year-old Campbellton man died after his snowmobile left a trail, went over an embankment and ended up in a stream.
Another snowmobiler came upon the crash along Route 11 near Sugarloaf Provincial Park in Atholville on Friday morning.
