Man charged in connection with theft of firearms

Police say a Perth-Andover, N.B., man has been charged after several firearms were stolen during a break and enter.

The RCMP say seven firearms were taken from a Perth-Andover residence during a break-in on April 25.

They say one of the firearms was used during a break and enter in Clearview on May 8, in which 20-year-old Mackenzie O'Keefe was charged with numerous offences.

Police say their ensuing investigation led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man in connection with the Perth-Andover break-in.

Jordan Rideout is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a weapon obtained by commission of an offence, break and enter to steal a firearm, and trafficking in property obtained by crime.

Rideout waived his right to a bail hearing and was remanded into custody until his next court appearance on May 30.

O'Keefe, who police say is facing a total of seven charges, is due back in court on May 31.

Investigators are still trying to determine the whereabouts of the six other firearms.
