Notre Dame Cathedral's Structure has Been Saved
French authorities announced Monday night, Notre Dame's structure has been saved!
“We can consider that the structure of Notre Dame has been saved and preserved,” said Paris fire brigade chief Jean-Claude Gallet, according to Agence France-Presse. Firefighter's have been tackling the blaze for nearly 4 hours.
The 850-year-old building’s two main towers are also in the clear!
About two-thirds of the roof and the iconic spire went up in smoke.
An investigation has been opened into how the blaze, which erupted at around 6:50 p.m. local time, began.
