Aaron Carter Fires Back At Cops, Brother After Arrest
Aaron Carter said Sunday he plans to fight charges filed against him this past weekend in Habersham County, Georgia.
The 29-year-old singer was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. Girlfriend Madison Parker was arrested for possession and obstruction.
In a statement shared on Twitter, Carter said he has a license for medical marijuana to treat anxiety.
He also alleged he was targeted by police because he is a celebrity.
Carter said he was at an Auto Zone garage in Cornelia, Georgia when several police officers arrested him “with aggression” and “revoked his rights to have an attorney.”
He said video from Auto Zone will show that he was “not in a moving vehicle while arrested and charged with a DUI.”
Carter was released after posting $4,610 USD bail.
The singer’s older brother, Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, tweeted his support: “To my brother: I love u no matter what & if u feel the need to reach for help, I am here and willing to help you get better.”
But Aaron, in his statement, fired back.
“If my own blood truly cared about my well-being, why wouldn’t he call me directly and have a conversation instead of making this about him through a very public forum?
“That’s not cool at all to use me for his PR and kick me while I am down.”
Carter added: “I love my family despite it through thick and thin.”
