Remembrance Day Ceremonies

Ceremony at Point Pleasant Park at 10:50am.


21 Gun Salute at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site at 11am. (The museum and the site are open to the public with FREE admission from 10am-3pm)


Parade at Sullivan’s Pond at 10:30. Please note: Due to the ongoing Halifax Water project construction on Ochterloney Street and within the Sullivan’s Pond Park, the service has been relocated from the cenotaph to the Sullivan’s Pond Band Shell. A Remembrance Day Performance is happening at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 at 10:45am called Letters from the Front.


Ceremony at Hammonds Plains Cenotaph in Uplands Park, 2 Crestfield Drive.

From Halifax.ca: Residents are advised that there will be a number of rolling street closures and traffic delays across the region on Saturday, Nov. 11, to facilitate Remembrance Day processions to a number of local ceremonies that will honour our veterans and those still serving with the Canadian Armed Forces.


What’s Open/Closed?

Restaurants and bars are NOT permitted to sell alcohol before 12pm.


Banks, big grocery stores, and malls will be closed under Nova Scotia’s Remembrance Day Act.


NSLCs are closed.


Drug stores and gas stations are allowed to be open, and so are the private beer stores (like the Cold Beer Store). These may all delay opening until after Remembrance Day ceremonies.


All Halifax library branches will be closed on Saturday and Monday.


Halifax Recycling Plant and Composting facilities are closed.


There is no mail delivery on Monday. Canada Post offices will be closed.


Halifax Transit is operating on holiday schedule. Veterans and military personnel (in uniform or when they display their military ID) and family members with them ride free on Saturday the 11th.
