Ariana Grande Accuses Grammys Producer Of Lying

Ariana Grande has accused the producer of the Grammy Awards for lying about why she declined to perform on Sunday’s show.

Ken Ehrlich told The Associated Press there were ongoing discussions but in the end Grande “felt it was too late for her to pull something together.”

The pop star fired back on Twitter. “i’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me,” she fumed. “i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken.

“it was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend.”

On Wednesday, Variety reported that Grande was unable to reach an agreement with the show’s producers about which song she would perform.

Grande was reportedly “insulted” when producers initially said she could not do her hit “7 Rings.” They then agreed she could perform part of the song if she did another one of their choosing.

Grande responded: “i offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.

“hope that helps everyone understand my decision. i am still grateful for the acknowledgement this year.”

Grande, who is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album (for Sweetener) and Best Pop Vocal Performance (“God Is a Woman”).

The New York Times reported that Drake, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar also turned down offers to perform on the Grammys.
