Canadian Band The Moffatts Are Back With 'Secrets'

A Canadian pop group that burst onto the scene in the late ‘90s has resolved to make a comeback in 2018.

The Moffatts – who had hits like “Girl Of My Dreams,” “Miss You Like Crazy” and “I’ll Be There For You” – have reunited and will be dropping a new single on Jan. 10.

“Secrets” is the title track of a six-song EP that triplets Bob, Clint, Dave and older brother Scott have recorded. The Moffatts are signed to Thailand-based BEC-Tero Music, whose music is distributed internationally by Sony Music.

Originally from B.C., the band of brothers started as a country act when they were kids and morphed into one of Canada’s most successful ‘90s pop groups.

Their aptly titled 1998 release, Chapter I: A New Beginning, earned the guys several Juno Awards, including Best Pop Album and Best Group.

In an interview with last year, Bob and Clint reflected on The Moffatts years.

“When you’re that young and you’re thrusted into that position… I mean, we had our parents,” Bob said. “Our dad and our stepmom toured with us so they definitely helped guide us and steer us in the right direction at that age because if we were by ourselves, who knows what we would have been doing.

Added Clint: “There are definitely some wardrobe choices that I’d probably like to take back and some haircut choices that at the time seemed like a good idea.”

The Moffatts’ follow-up album, 2000’s Submodalities, was a more modest success and the group split up in 2001.

Scott, who turns in 35 in March, has worked as a music producer while Bob and Clint, who turn 34 in March, formed country duo Endless Summer.

Dave stepped away from the spotlight after competing on Canadian Idol and focused on becoming a yoga instructor in Toronto. He recently started posting covers online.

The brothers – minus Dave – reunited last February for a series of live shows in the Philippines, where The Moffatts remain one of the top-selling international acts. Last May, Dave made his own return to the Philippines for a show in Manila.

The reunited Moffatts plan to tour in support of their new music.
