LISTEN: Madonna Debuts 'I Rise'

Hot on the heels of the release of “Medellín,” Madonna has shared “I Rise,” another track from her forthcoming album Madame X.

The song opens with a clip of Emma González speaking in the wake of last year’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.

Madame X, which drops June 14, is Madonna’s first album since 2015’s Rebel Heart. Its 15 tracks include lyrics in Spanish and Portuguese.

The 60-year-old pop icon debuted “Medellín,” featuring 25-year-old Colombian singer Maluma, in mid-April but it has failed to enter the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at No. 37 on the Canadian Digital Songs chart.

The video for “Medellín” has been viewed only 16 million times in its first 10 days online.

Madonna and Maluma gave a lip-synced performance of the song at the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday night that featured holographic images and CGI.

TV host Wendy Williams was not impressed. “She moves like an old lady...and if you move like an old lady then you should just stick to your old lady moves,” she said on her show. “Those stupid grills, and the patch over her eye, and she was sitting on the floor, and the dancers were dragging her around like a wet dishrag...like, eww.”
