'American Idol' Reboot May Be Delayed
We might have to wait a little longer for the return of American Idol.
The last of the show's tour bus auditions are today in New Orleans, and scheduled taped auditions with judges are just a few weeks away.
But, according to TMZ, with the only confirmed judge so far is Katy Perry. If production of the show is delayed, it could conflict with her Witness: The Tour, which starts Monday in Montreal and runs until Feb. 5 (including shows in Toronto on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1) and then goes overseas from May 23 until August.
Idol producers reportedly wanted country singer Luke Bryan to join the panel, but TMZ claims they didn't offer him enough cash. Perry is said to be earning $25 million U.S. to be a judge.
Fox pulled the plug on Idol in 2015 after 15 seasons but ABC picked up the rights and added a new version of the show to its 2017-18 schedule.
