Canada's 'Property Brothers' Cover New 'People'
A pair of Canadian cuties grace the cover of the new issue of People.
Vancouver-born Jonathan and Drew Scott — best known for their home design series Property Brothers — are featured in the issue dated Sept. 4.
“From past struggles — including a divorce and a bankruptcy — to new wedding & baby plans, Drew and Jonathan Scott reveal all,” reads a headline on the magazine’s cover.
The 39-year-old twins spoke to People about their new memoir It Takes Two: Our Story.
“We didn’t want to cut anything out of the book,” Jonathan said. “We talk about all the highs and all the lows.”
Those lows include Drew going $100,000 in debt while pursuing his dream.
“We had been doing real estate for some time, but I missed my passion, acting,” recalled Drew, who went to Vancouver from the family’s home in Maple Ridge, B.C. to take lessons and audition for roles.
Jonathan, a magician, was forced to file for bankruptcy after his gear was stolen.
“It really turned out to be a game-changer for us, because we realized how any reckless decision you make can leave you vulnerable,” Jonathan said. “Now we’ve put due diligence in and strengthened our financial situation.”
The bros also opened up about their personal lives. Drew and fiancée Linda Phan (they got engaged last December in Toronto to Train’s “Marry Me”) are launching a new reality series and Jonathan said he’s anxious to start a family with girlfriend Jacinta Kuznetsov.
“I think I’ll be a great dad,” he told People. “That’s going to be exciting.”
