Jennifer Lawrence Taking 'Little Break' From Acting
Jennifer Lawrence says she's taking a break from acting.
In an interview that aired on Friday's episode of Today, the 27-year-old star said she doesn’t have any work scheduled for the next two years.
Lawrence has been very busy since her debut on the small screen in 2006. She had recurring role in two franchises, The Hunger Games and X-Men, and has received widespread industry recognition – including an Oscar win and three other nominations – for her work in Joy, Silver Linings Playbook, and American Hustle.
When asked what she will do with her spare time, the actress joked that she might “start making pots.”
Lawrence was at TIFF this week for the premiere of her made-in-Montreal movie mother!, which was written and directed by boyfriend Darren Aronofsky. The film has been described as “brilliant” and a “baroque nightmare”, with Lawrence herself referring to it as “an assault” in her sit-down with Today.
The movie was so dark, the actress admitted, that she had to listen to Christmas music to distract herself when she wasn’t filming.
Lawrence will next be seen in Red Sparrow, opening in March, and in next November's X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
"I think I'm just taking a little break," she said. "I'll see you in six months."
