Meghan Markle On Prince Harry: 'We're In Love"

Actress (and part-time Toronto resident) Meghan Markle has opened up about her relationship with Prince Harry.

“It’s really simple. We’re two people who are really happy and in love,” she told Vanity Fair.

In an interview in the magazine’s October issue, the Suits star said she was “quietly dating” the royal for about six months before it made headlines.

“I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception,” said Markle. “Nothing about me changed. I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship.”

Markle has a home near Dupont and Christie and shoots Suits in a warehouse studio at Downsview Park until November. Harry has made several low-key visits to Toronto in the past year to spend time with Markle — usually slipping in and out of the garage in the driveway behind her home.

The Prince will be in Toronto later this month for the Invictus Games.

The actress said dating one of the world's most famous bachelors has had its challenges.

“Some days it can feel more challenging than others,” she told Vanity Fair. “And right out of the gate it was surprising the way things changed. But I still have this support system all around me, and, of course, my boyfriend’s support.”

Markle said she tries to avoid reading any of the coverage her relationship gets.

“The people who are close to me anchor me in knowing who I am. The rest is noise.”

Markle seems to want to simply enjoy her life with Harry. “We’re a couple. We’re in love,” she said. “I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us.

“It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”
