Grocery shop in silence
I love this so much!
Between the clang of shopping carts, voices or music on the intercom and the beeping of the conveyer belt scanner, grocery shopping can be a sensory overload for some.
Sooo Thrifty Foods along with Autism BC is bringing a sensory-sensitive grocery shopping experience to Vancouver Island. For one hour at certain Thrifty Foods locations, customers will be able to grocery shop in relative silence. During this hour, stores will reduce lighting and eliminate any extra noises, like music and intercom announcements.
Thrifty Foods in Tsawwassen already offers this experience, and next up the initiative will come to the Central Saanich location in the near future.
YAY to creative initiatives that offer inclusivity for everyone!
