High School Students viral cover of The Beatles Blackbird in Mi'kmaq

High school students in Nova Scotia have created a viral video of The Beatles hit song Blackbird being covered in the indigenous language of Mi'kmaq. The reason it was created is to raise awareness and teach those about the dying language. Less than 10,000 people speak it!  Emma Stevens, the singer, says “It’s a very, very powerful song, so doing it in Mi’kmaq just makes it more powerful,” She told CTV Atlantic. “Our language is dying, so we need more people to keep it alive and speak it, because it’s going away.” All the feels for sure, such a beautiful language! The number one goal is to keep the language alive but she also would love to get it in the hands of the great Paul McCartney!
