When fans lined Toronto’s Queen Street to get into clubs where Blue Rodeo was performing in the mid-1980s, the band felt as though they had achieved success. And, in fact, they had. But that success has grown exponentially through the ensuing three decades since they formed, and by staying authentic and true to themselves, Canada continues its enduring love affair with Blue Rodeo.
Reflecting back on three decades of successes and those early Blue Rodeo days, the band fully appreciates how fortunate they are. Jim Cuddy shares, “When you look back, you realize that it has just been this beautiful dream.”
In the thirty years since forming, Blue Rodeo has sold over 4 million albums, won countless Juno awards, been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, been named to the Order of Canada and have been honoured with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award.
Blue Rodeo is: Jim Cuddy (vocals/guitar), Greg Keelor (vocals/guitar), Bazil Donovan (bass), Glenn Milchem (drums/vocals), Colin Cripps (guitar/vocals) and Mike Boguski (keyboards).
Joining Blue Rodeo this summer, when they perform on August 29th at Budweiser Stage is one of Canada’s most treasured musicians, Alan Doyle. Alan Doyle will release his brand new EP, Rough Side Out, on February 14. Fans can pre-order, pre-save and pre-add the album (https://wmcanada.lnk.to/RoughSideOut) and can download and listen to the new track “Paper in Fire” today. Alan Doyle is a 12-time JUNO Award nominee for his solo material and work with his iconic band Great Big Sea. In 2018, he was awarded the Order of Canada for his contributions to the musical traditions of Newfoundland and for his commitment to numerous charitable initiatives.
The Weather Station, is the project of Toronto songwriter Tamara Lindeman. The latest release entitled, The Weather Station is her most fully realized statement to date, it is a work of profound urgency, artistic generosity, and joy. Self-titled and self-produced, the album unearths a vital new energy from Lindeman’s acclaimed songwriting practice, marrying it to a bold new sense of confidence.
