City of Barrie emphasizes urgent need to stay home
The City of Barrie is urging residents to take steps now to help stop the spread of COVID-19. All residents should follow the recommendations to keep a distance of at least two arms lengths, or approximately 2 metres, from anyone other than your immediate family that you live with.
Avoid crowded places, cancel playdates and sleepovers, and only go out for essential needs. Avoid contact with people at higher risk such as older adults and those in poor health. Stay home as much as possible. It is critical that everyone follows these measures immediately to help keep our community safe.
“I'm still hearing about way, way too many people going out and socializing,” said Mayor Jeff Lehman. “It's not the time to get together, it's the time to stay six feet apart, whether at the grocery store or outside. Please help fight COVID-19. Please share and support our brave health care workers and everyone working to fight this virus.”
We are all in this together. If we stay home we can help slow the spread of this virus. The City will continually update its website at barrie.ca/stayhome as the situation changes. For updates and information on COVID-19, visit simcoemuskokahealth.org/.
