Covid-19 UPDATE from the Midland Cultural Centre
Covid-19 UPDATE from the MCC
The MCC team has been monitoring developments throughout these troubling times. While we recognize that many of the suggested actions from Health professionals as well as both Federal and Provincial government bodies, may have the potential to cause hardship to many in our communities, nevertheless we have to put the health of our customers, volunteers, staff and the many artists who visit us, above all other concerns, difficult though this may be.
For these reasons, we have taken the unprecedented step of closing the facility down to everyone except for our small team of essential employees (as always, we are continuously monitoring the ongoing State of Emergency and are prepared to modify our plan accordingly).
This means that all scheduled events until April 4th have been postponed. In many cases the artists themselves have requested postponements and we are very thankful to them for this. While some audiences may be disappointed in the short term, we recognize that entertainers rely heavily on such events for their income, and so postponements will significantly affect them also.
Unfortunately, this Pandemic is bigger, at this point, than any concert. Our entire population has to pull together and follow the advice given by Health Agencies and government. The MCC is committed to playing our part in this, and we strongly encourage everyone to do the same.
Please practice social distancing, hand-washing etc. Stay healthy - and rest assured that the MCC will resume operations, bringing fantastic shows to our communities, as soon as it is safe to do so.
For more information on the ongoing status of upcoming shows, as well as our evolving action plan, please check our website, and social media messages.
Our website also contains some advice of how to protect yourself in the coming days.
Lastly, while you are staying safe, check out what artists are doing - many are streaming concerts on-line. There are ways to support such artists during this emergency through on-line activities. Please remember that this situation can seriously hurt them financially.
